Itinerary

Friday: Old Charleston Walking Ghost Tour - Some stories were maybe never meant to be told... Get ready for 90-minutes of eerie entertainment when you take one of Charleston's best ghost tours! The tour begins at your choice of 7:30 pm or 9:30 pm. Hotel pick up is not included, so you will be responsible for providing your own transportation to the departure point, less than 10 minutes from the hotel. You'll be led by internationally acclaimed tour guide and historian for Charleston's most exclusive ghost tour - Mike Brown! Mike is one of the city's most experienced tour guides. He has spent over a decade researching its haunted locations and training his colleagues. You'll get to hear the ghost stories that aren't available on any other tour! This walk visits the city's most haunted graveyards, alleys, and other sites. The Old Charleston Walking Ghost Tour promises to be an unforgettable experience!

Saturday: Middleton Place Plantation House & Garden Tour - Treat yourself to a journey back in time and a lesson in Southern history at the Middleton Place Plantation in Charleston! This combo admission ticket allows you access to both the House and the Gardens of Middleton Place any time between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm (please note that closing times may vary on some holidays). Hotel pick-up is not included, so you will be responsible for providing your own transportation to the plantation - approximately 30 minutes driving time from the hotel. Middleton Place - a National Historic Landmark - offers working stableyards and a living house museum surrounded by America's oldest landscaped gardens. You must book your guided House Tour time immediately upon arrival at the Visitor's Center; this time cannot be arranged prior to arrival, but these 30 minute guided tours are available 10:00 am through 4:30 pm. On your guided tour of the House Museum, you'll see fine collections of family-owned artifacts, dating from the 1740s through the 1880s. Plantation Highlights

The Stableyards - offer a look back into 18th and 19th centuries working plantation life. This is where African-American slaves took care of the animals and tended to the crops. The skilled slaves were also responsible for making tools, pottery, clothing, and other products to support a functioning rice plantation.

The 65 acres - offer landscaped terraces, shadowy alleys, ornamental ponds and garden rooms laid out with precise symmetry and balance. They made Middleton Place the most unique and grand garden of its time. Today, swans sail majestically on the water and nest on small islands.

The House Museum - built by Henry Middleton in 1755 as a gentlemen's guest quarters, is the only surviving portion of the three-building residential complex that once stood overlooking the Ashley River. The House contains one of the finest collections of family-owned artifacts. Expect to see Middleton family furniture, paintings, books and documents dating from the 1740s through the 1880s. Guided tours of the house introduce visitors to the men, women and children who made Middleton Place their home for over two centuries.

Middleton Place Restaurant - offers visitors a taste of the Old South. Delicious foods such as Hoppin' John and ham biscuits, okra gumbo, she-crab soup, collard greens and Huguenot Torte are just a few of the tempting dishes served for lunch. The Market also offers casual picnic style fare including sandwiches, salads, wraps and ice cream. In the evening, guests can stroll through the gardens and enjoy an elegant, candlelight dinner overlooking the Rice Mill Pond. Dinner favorites include pan-fried quail, scallops, shrimp and grits. Meals are not included in the ticket price.

Middleton Place Garden Market & Nursery - In addition to plant materials, customers can select from an assortment of garden accessories, plantation-crafted wares and locally produced specialty foods and water buffalo cheeses.
