Charleston Afternoon Schooner Sail

Experience the best in Charleston sailing, sightseeing and attractions on The Schooner Pride, a classic 84' tall ship. Considered one of the top five things to do in Charleston, join us for our exhilarating daily sails or romantic sunset sails to escape the crowded streets and sweltering heat of downtown Charleston, SC. Take in the Holy City the way it was meant to be seen, from the peaceful waters of Charleston Harbor, as we mingle with dolphins, pelicans and gulls on our two hour sailing tours.

As we lift our sails the cool breeze will whisk you away on a relaxing cruise. Unwind, relax, sip wine or another cool beverage as we sail from the Aquarium Wharf and continue sailing past the historic Battery, towards Ft. Johnston and Ft. Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired in 1861.

Sail through waters that Blackbeard once anchored in, relax on deck and imagine a time when the harbor was filled with these majestic ships. We have no set route; we just follow the winds wherever they take us.

What should I wear?
~We suggest that you dress comfortably, and weather appropriate. Keep in mind that it is usually 5-10 degrees cooler on the water. Soft-soled shoes are also recommended

What happens if it starts raining while we're on our sail?
~Don't worry, some of our most fun and memorable trips have taken place in less-than-perfect weather! If we're caught in a rain shower, you may go below to the main salon, or you may borrow one of our many rain ponchos.

Is there a restroom on the boat?
~Yes, the boat is equipped with a clean restroom. It is called a "marine head" and it is different from a bathroom you would use on land. It is located down a stairway below decks, and it has a foot pedal. There are simple directions in the head or you can ask a crew member to explain!

Is the ship wheelchair accessible?
~No, it is not wheelchair accessible as boarding the Schooner is from a dock with four steps and a short gangway onto the main deck, which requires passengers to climb the entrance boarding stairs. Also, restroom facilities are below the main deck and require going down steep steps.

~Yes, small dogs are allowed on board so long as they are kept on a leash or in a carrier.

How steady is the sailing? Am I likely to get seasick?

~While there are no parts of the boat that are air-conditioned, guests are more than welcome to go below deck or stay in the shade of the sails to keep out of the sun. The natural sea breeze provides our fan. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended. Drink plenty of water on hot days to stay hydrated.
